Position Summary

The 2nd shift Fabrication Lead will be responsible for safety, quality, and production. This lead is aware of the production schedule and works to complete jobs following guidance from the Shop Foreperson and the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that tools and equipment are being used properly and that they are properly maintained
• Performs project plan review before starting up
• Allocates the manpower for the job and coordinates the use of tools and equipment on site
• Reviews the site-specific safety plan with the Safety Director
• Presides over the job start-up safety orientation and reviews site specific hazards and their avoidance or control
• Follows site incident reporting protocols
• Coordinates with Shipping and Receiving to ensure timely delivery and material availability
• Coordinates with QC/QA in reporting all non-conformances along with investigates, and reports non-conformances and makes recommendations for corrective action
• Takes responsibility for all labor cost of the job

Qualifications

• Preferred 5+ years of experience in being in a Structural Steel Fabrication Shop
• Preferred 2+ years in a leadership role
• Familiar with structural steel fabrication, bolting and welding procedures
• Ability to train others effectively
• OSHA 10hr. Construction Safety and Health Standards training
• CPR/First Aid training

Physical Demands

• Must be able to move around the production floor
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a repeated basis throughout the day, 25 to 50 pounds frequently during the day, 50 to 75 pounds occasionally during the day and 75 to 100 pounds several times during the day
