Ben Hur Construction Company offers a competitive salary and benefits. Starting pay is based on education, experience and skill level - salary $80,000 to $100,000. Core benefits include medical, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, company paid short-term and long-term disability, and 401K with match.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Manages the human resource functions across multiple divisions and subsidiaries that include heavy involvement in manufacturing and construction administration. This position is responsible for the entire HR function, including all administrative duties. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies that support the company's growth and developmental goals for its workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide internal expertise and advise leadership regarding human resources initiatives.

  • Implements programs for all human resources areas. Performs the administration of all human resource activities and policies including employment, employee relations, compensation, training and development, benefits administration, and diversity.
  • Gives input on policies and programs to meet organizational needs and provides guidance and technical assistance to other areas.
  • Implements employee relations policies and ensures consistent application of company policies and procedures. Helps ensure we have a great place to work for all employees.
  • Advises management to ensure company compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment and training.
  • Manages dispute resolution procedures.

Direct, support, coach, and counsel all levels of staff.

  • Create and revise job descriptions.
  • Develop, analyze and update the company's evaluation program.
  • Maintain and revise the company's handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Maintain company directory.
  • Maintain company's organizational and accountability charts.

Oversee benefits and compensation administration.

  • Manages compensation and benefits programs including medical insurance, vacation, holiday pay, and retirement programs.
  • Evaluates current programs to ensure all benefits meet company and employee needs.
  • Responsible for open enrollment, monthly changes, ensuring accurate billing and recordkeeping.

Recruiting for open position and effective orientation of new employees and managers.

  • Manage ATS system and applicant flow to hiring managers.
  • Conduct phone screens.
  • Schedule interviews.
  • Provide timely follow-up to all parties.

Establish and maintain effective forums for involving staff and employee representatives in identifying workplace issues and delivering solutions.

Provide administrative support to Executive Team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of HR experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certification by the Society for Human Resources Management preferred.
  • Must have general business knowledge, advanced HR knowledge, experience leading people, excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving.
  • Willingness to take a position, to show personal initiative, and to persevere in the face of significant challenges while being assertive yet respectful and team-oriented.
  • Strong influence and relationship building ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve disputes and observe confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The flexibility to work in an environment with constantly shifting and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate many projects simultaneously.
  • Generally, work will be performed at a desk or PC work station in an office. However, circumstances may require on-site meetings and investigations throughout the facility and off site.
  • Travel between the home office and fabrication facility will be required on a regular basis.
  • Travel between St. Louis and out-of-state offices in Indianapolis and Cincinnati will be required on a periodic basis.
