Quality Control Inspector
SUMMARY: Assists the Quality Control Manager in organizing, maintaining and implementing the quality assurance program.
The Quality Control Inspector assists the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining and implementing the Quality Management System.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Surveillance of in-process cutting, drilling, fit-up, welding, bolting, cleaning and painting operations.
- Fit-up inspection prior to welding
- Final Weld inspection
- Clean and Paint inspection
- Perform pre-installation bolt testing
- Coordination of third party testing agencies
- Assist Q.A. Manager in qualifying weld procedures and welders to AWS D1.1.
- Assist Q.A. Manager in monitoring welder's continuous performance for maintaining their qualifications.
- Assist Q.A. Manager and shop leadman in resolving material and fabrication problems
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- AWS CWI
- 3 to 5 years' experience structural fabrication as a fitter
- Knowledge of proper fabricating methods cutting, burning, shearing, drilling, assemble, bolting, welding, cleaning and painting.
- Knowledge of proper application of NDE methods VT, PT, MT, UT, RT
- Professional attitude.
- Language Skills:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Mathematical skills needed for computation.
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to move around the shop floor
- Work Environment
- Office and shop.
